Google AdWords Editor – Exporting Campaigns to MSN AdCenter

AdWords Editor Exporting Campaigns Part 1

If you’ve done your own research and decided to take on the challenge of sponsored search yourself, then there’s a good chance you might be running your ad campaigns on Google AdWords and not taking advantage of the conversions provided by Yahoo and MSN. The popularity of Google’s AdWords makes it easy to discount the value of MSN and Yahoo’ s search programs. After all, there are many search marketers who will not bother creating campaigns with MSN and Yahoo. And I admit that when I’m setting up a sponsored search campaign Google AdWords always comes first and always gets the most attention. And occasionally there is the mini project that just doesn’t justify expanding the campaign into the three major search engines. But don’t underestimate the potential of using MSN and Yahoo. Although they may not provide the impressions and visits, the ROI can often be higher than Google’s return.

So you still might be thinking what’s the big deal with an occasional sale provided by MSN or Yahoo, the effort of setting up and managing the campaigns isn’t worth it. And although there are plenty of tools out there for PPC management across multiple search engines, the dollar cost is high for a single campaign.

But along comes the Google AdWords Editor to make life a little easier; although it doesn’t provide cross-search-engine PPC campaign management it does allow you to create and refine a campaign in Google AdWords and then export the campaign to other search engine platforms. If you are not using it you are missing out on one of the easiest ways to expand you campaign from Google AdWords to MSN. Sorry Yahoo, but you just don’t fit in this part of the topic (because we are talking about “easy”). Yahoo has set a $500 monthly minimum before offering marketers the privilege of using the campaign import feature. But hold on, there is a way to temporarily circumvent this problem by emailing Yahoo support and requesting a one time campaign import. They usually respond within a few business days with an email containing a template and instructions to your one time courtesy campaign import. If you haven’t already imported you AdWords campaign into MSN then you’ll probably jump right on the campaign import to Yahoo. But if you have imported the AdWords campaign into MSN you’ll probably forget the campaign import to Yahoo because MSN makes importing the Google AdWords campaign a snap and Yahoo’s procedure seems like a total nightmare in comparison.

It’s a Snap! No More Neglecting MSN AdCenter
Performing this AdWords Editor to MSN AdCenter import is so slick, it takes only a few minutes. You simply export the campaign from the Google AdWords Editor and import it to MSN AdCenter. It’s so easy that it almost makes sense to create MSN campaigns for every AdWords campaign. In the AdWords Editor, under the file menu select the “Export to CSV” and that’s it. Go into MSN AdCenter and import the campaign from the location you exported the AdWords campaign to. You then make the few modifications to the AdCenter ad groups and ads and there you go. And in a snap…MSN AdCenter is ready to roll.
